Mission + Vision: Why We're More than a T-Shirt Company.

FortyFourthPrez is an energetic, bold community of BIPOC and BIPOC allies who lift each other up and ignite change and social justice in the world. We create ...

  • Voice and solidarity among those passionate about social justice and equality;
  • A bold boost of energy and inspiration you can pass along just by passing by;
  • That which honors the hope that President Barack Obama inspired in all social justice activists, BIPOC, and underrepresented individuals.

Our tees alone won’t fix the world, but they will help you face it, day after day.

What Guides Our Vision, Goals, + Product Choices

Our world is in a state of upheaval. We’ve a long road ahead—but every. little. step. counts! The “little step” we provide is something as simple as a t-shirt.

We believe a little inspiration can go a long way. Catching sight of a strong visual, a political statement, or a bold piece of truth you relate to in your core makes you feel seen, and in turn, feel less alone. Our apparel is designed to inspire that energy when hope seems lost.

We believe in speaking out and feeling joy in doing so. Our products are meant to be seen. We want our customers to be unapologetic in their pride, their skin, their culture, in THEMSELVES, and in all those who are socially underrepresented around them.

We believe in the future. As activists and allies of representation, equality, and social justice, we are a force, and we are changing the world for ourselves, and for those who come after us.

We want to do our part to foster this mindset. This is one of our little steps.

Where We Come From + Where We're Going

Message from our founder:

Hi! I’m Jewel—an unapologetic activist for social justice, and (you may have guessed) a huge fan of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

I initially launched FortyFourthPrez to pay tribute to our first Black American president, whose message of hope and actions toward social justice and equality among all persons is unmatched. His departure from the White House left me feeling sad and afraid for our future.

To re-ignite some of the positive energy and hope instilled by his legacy, I wrote and performed the song "Thank You, Mr. President." This Black-Latina loves confidence, class, and grace, and I wanted my tribute to embody that.

I infuse that same energy into the apparel and products here. My clothing is truly a venture of love and inspiration (it’s also great quality; we test it ourselves!).

President Barack Obama once said, "One voice can change a room." We believe that deeply. We also believe that clothing is more than the shirt on your back. What you wear is the image you paint on the canvas that is YOU. It communicates your style and attitude to the world. For activists, a t-shirt can be a statement of energy, a stance, a representation.

So stay a while—all are welcome! I hope, above all, you feel moved to make positive change and to use your influence, whatever and wherever that is.

love, Jewel
